Getting Ready for Easter!

Happy Easter!

We have been very busy getting ready for Easter in Kindergarten!  We read stories, sang songs, made crafts, and much, much, more...
We read the story of Palm Sunday and acted out the part of Jesus and the people of Jerusalem.  Each child had the chance to 'be Jesus' and ride into town on a donkey (broom).  The rest of us waved our palm branches and put down our coats so Jesus wouldn't get dirty.

After reading the story of the The Last Supper and the Passion we put Jesus (Lego figure) in the tomb and we will check the tomb on Tuesday to see what happened!

Here is a look at what else happened this week...

One of the students had the idea to turn the house center into a bunny hole for the Easter Bunny to live in.  Here are some of the designs of what they wanted the bunny hole to be like.  Some of their ideas resembled the bunny hole from the movie 'hop'.

"There needs to be a tunnel...a tunnel to jump
into then you will land in the hole."

Maybe I will turn into a minion bunny when I go
through the tunnel.  I will eat bananas in there."

"I changed my mind...
mine is not a bunny hole...it's a bunny sewer
 (like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)!
The bunnies inside will eat carrot pizza."

"When you go through the tunnel there will be
carrots to eat and eggs to decorate."

We can have carrots and eggs...we could make them
out of craft stuff and put them in the bunny hole.
That way the bunnies would have food."

"To open the bunny hole you need to blow on
something, like in the movie."

"There should be dancing inside and I
drew bugs outside of the bunny hole."

These two are busy creating things for the inside of the bunny hole.

"I made a chocolate bunny."

"I made this egg for the bunnies."

Thanks to one of our mom's for donating some Easter craft supplies.

"Can I hang this in the house?"
The children started taping their creations to the
roof of the bunny hole.

"The bunnies will need a lantern to see in the dark hole."
(When she was done, she decided it was more of a chandelier.)

Here is the bunny hole after day one.  Two
tables pushed together with sheets over the top.
There are two tunnels to crawl through (jumping
into them didn't work so they are crawling for now
until they come up with another way in.)

Here is the basket of chocolate bunnies, eggs, carrots and
celery for the bunnies to eat.

Some of our very own bunnies...

Stay tuned for more on the bunny hole...

Decorating Easter Eggs

The children each had a turn to colour an
Easter egg.  They ripped up pieces of
crepe paper and added them to hot water to
make their own dye.  Half of the fun was watching the
water change colour.

After the eggs dried, they were invited to
add some details to their egg with paint.

More Easter Fun

The boys worked for hours writing messages
on tiny pieces of paper and putting the
messages in plastic eggs.  When they were
finished their writing, they hid the eggs all over the
classroom for their friends to find.

Felt Creations

How high can you stack your bunnies?

Finding eggs in the sensory bin...

The eggs had word family words to read and/or write.

Our famous builder built this bunny house.

This group created their own game of 'bunny ball'.  The game works
like basket ball but instead of a ball, there is a stuffed bunny.
The green basket is the hoop being guarded by a defence man.
The boys were giving points to kids who 'scored'.

Have a Happy Easter Everyone!
