Milk Bags for Haiti
One of our students came to school with a milk bag one morning.
He asked if he could tell the class about a project we could do with milk bags.
He told the class about the poor children in Haiti who had no beds to sleep on.
The children in Haiti were sleeping on mats made out of milk bags.
If we collected the milk bags we could make mats for Haiti.
The very next day the milk bags began rolling in....
We began to keep track of how many bags we collected using tally marks.
We have collected over 100 milk bags.
I got in touch with two ladies who actually make the sleep mats
and they came in to talk to the class.
The ladies showed pictures of the orphans in Haiti with their sleep mats.
One of our students said, "I thought there was no such thing as orphanages."
They also make school bags for the children to carry their books.
Everyone got a chance to 'test out' the sleep mats.

Thanks for sending in your milk bags. We will continue to collect them until the end of the year.
