Sorry...No Boys Allowed!
That is the phrase you could hear all afternoon this week on our side of the classroom. All of the girls from Mrs. Kepran-Blair and Miss Nykolak's class joined our girls for a week of princesses! The girls actually planned the week's activities on their own. We sat down together to think of what we could do, just the girls. They thought they would like to do all of their favourite things. They wanted to bring in their favourite stories, wear their favourite dresses, dance to their favourite songs and make their favourite crafts. One of the girls said she was going to bring a princess book as her favourite story and another one said her favourite dress was a princess dress. After everyone agreed their favourite things were all princess things, it became princess week!
We made castle shaped books and filled them with princesses names and princess stories...
..."Can I make a wand?"
"What are these ribbons for?"
"Can we dance with them?"
"We could dance to Let it Go..."
"I put 6 jewels on Sleeping Beauty's dress."
"Let's paint Olaf..."
"I'm painting the button that has the number 4 on it."
The girls built castles in the snow (shaving cream) for the princesses.
"Elsa is going to live here..."
The girls enjoyed their favourite princess stories from home."
Some princesses played in the house center all dressed up.
The princess water table was a big hit. The water table had all sorts of pink and purple jewels, flower petals, ribbons, rocks, streamers and of course...princesses!
"Look, Cinderella is swimming..."
We looked at giant icicles from outside.
Some of the princesses wrote with 'feather quills' (craft feathers) and
black ink (paint), just like the princesses in one of the stories we read.
These princesses had so much fun!
