Float or Sink?
One day a grade one teacher came to borrow some foil paper from us. When she returned it, the students asked if they could use some foil for their crafts. Another group of students asked to play with Henry and Henrietta, our class's finger puppets that help us sit quietly at the carpet. Somehow, the two groups ended up together and began making beds for Henry and Henrietta. Beds soon turned into boats...
Once you have made a boat, you simply must know if it is sea-worthy. So...we filled our water table and set sail!

"Mine is like a canoe."
"Look...mine floats!"

"Maybe mine is too heavy...it keeps tipping over."

"I covered the popsicle sticks in foil to make it shiny and waterproof."
"It's working...look! It can carry a popsicle stick."
"Now I will try again...it's not so heavy now. Maybe it will float."
"I put the sides higher so water won't get in and make it sink."
"It floats! It really does!"
"Mine can carry this Lego guy."
"It's carrying Stanley!"
After the boats had all sailed...it was time to test out all sorts of
other items to see if they would sink or float!

Art Sale
I would like to thank all of our families who came out to purchase a piece of art from our 'Gallery'. I am totally overwhelmed at the response.
Your donations from the purchase of art, friendship pins and rice crispy squares totalled $197.25!!!
Thanks also to two special moms who came to help us with our art and get ready for the sale!
The children worked so hard to create something special to sell in order to raise money for those less fortunate. I am so proud of all of their efforts!
Here are some photos from our art sale!
(Sorry if I missed some children's projects...I didn't think to take photos right away. Some were already sold when I thought to ask a mom to take photos for me.)
Thank you again for your incredible generosity!!!
